DO’s

  • Shave all the areas you wish to laser 24 hours before your appointment to avoid irritation.
  • Inform your nurse of any medications you are taking, such as antibiotics, Retinol or Retin-A, Accutane, or any bleaching or glycolic acids you have been using.
  • Use sunscreen and aloe gel, or apply ice packs to the lasered areas.

DON'Ts

  • Wax, pluck, thread, or use hair-removal cream products. These temporarily remove the root hairs, which need to be present for laser hair removal.
  • Tan (sun, self, or bed) before your appointment. The skin must be its original skin tone for the laser to be safe.
  • Take hot showers, exercise, and use any skin irritants immediately after laser hair removal.

TREATMENT FOR ALL SKIN TYPES

  • What are the pre-treatment instructions?

    We ask that you shave the areas you are treating the night before. In order for laser hair removal to work, the area must have no visible hair on the treatment area. Also, keep the area clean from any lotions, deodorant, or makeup. If needed, we will clean the area prior to your treatment. We also recommend avoiding tanning two weeks prior to your treatment, this includes tanning beds, lotions, sprays, or direct sun exposure. If a tan is present, we might need to reschedule your appointment to be safe.

  • What should I expect during the treatment?

    Your healthcare provider will apply a numbing gel to your target area. Before using the laser device, you and your provider should wear protective goggles to protect your eyes from the laser light. During your treatment, you will feel a zap in the area being treated. The zap feels like a burst of cool air. This is to cool the effects of the laser targeting your hair follicle. But overall, the treatment is a tolerable process. Your treatment can be anywhere from five to 75 minutes, depending on what you are treating.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL RESULTS & RECOVERY

You may not notice the difference after the first couple of sessions, but after the third session, you’ll start to see a reduction of hair in your treated areas.
